Built so every learner can move forward.

Our commitment

Our accessibility commitment

We work to make our website and platform usable by the widest possible audience, including people who use assistive technologies. Accessibility informs our design, content, development, and ongoing improvements.

We aim to follow recognized accessibility practices, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as we continue to evaluate and improve the MyThorneAI experience.

Universal Design for Learning guides our approach: more than one way to take in information, stay engaged, and show what you know.

See for yourself

Different needs. More ways forward.

Try the live toolbar on this page, then step through the simplified lesson layout — the same experience organizations can enable for IDD learners.

The accessibility toolbar

Make the page easier to read with text size, contrast, spacing, and font controls. Try a quick setting in the live preview, or open the full toolbar. Your choices stay with you on this device — no account needed.

Live on this page

A little more room to learn.

A comfortable reading experience starts with what works for you. Try a quick setting — this card and the whole page respond.

Nothing changed yet. Try a setting in the toolbar. Your choices will appear here, and you can reset them at any time.

The IDD learning experience

For learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD): one step at a time, clear progress, and larger controls. The same lesson and credit, with less distraction. Enabled by your organization. Try the layout below.

How we support it

Small details. Fewer barriers.

  • Clear, readable content

Plain language, consistent page structure, readable type, and sufficient color contrast help learners understand and navigate content.

  • Keyboard navigation

Interactive areas are built to work without a mouse, with visible focus indicators that show where you are on the page.

  • Assistive technology

Semantic headings, descriptive labels, alternative text, and form instructions support screen readers and other tools.

  • Media alternatives

We work to provide captions, transcripts, or equivalent information for video and audio learning experiences where appropriate.

  • Flexible interaction

Responsive layouts, zoom support, reduced-motion preferences, and clear controls help people use MyThorneAI in different ways.

  • Continuous improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review feedback, test experiences, and prioritize improvements as the platform grows.

Design principles

The rules we hold ourselves to

These shape decisions before accessibility becomes a question of fixing something after the fact.

  • Give learners more than one way to understand information.
  • Use predictable navigation and clear instructions.
  • Avoid unnecessary time pressure and distracting motion.
  • Make errors easy to identify, understand, and correct.
  • Include people with disabilities in feedback and testing.

Compatibility & accommodations

What works, and how to ask for what you need

Technology and compatibility

For the best experience we recommend a current version of a major browser, with your operating system and assistive technology kept up to date.

Some third-party content or services operate outside MyThorneAI's direct control. We encourage our partners to provide accessible experiences, and we will work to offer a reasonable alternative where we can.

IEPs and Section 504 plans

The simplified IDD experience is an accommodation, not a preference. An organization enables it for a student against their plan — a student cannot switch it on or off themselves, and nothing about it is left to chance mid-course.

If a student needs that experience, or any other adjustment recorded in an IEP or Section 504 plan, talk to your organization's MyThorneAI administrator. They can set it, and we can help them decide what fits.
